The IT Systems Administrator will be responsible for the technical maintenance, tuning and recovery procedures for mission critical enterprise systems. The Systems Administrator will serve as a technical expert in the support and maintenance of both physical and virtual infrastructure, networking and act as an escalation point for tier one support engineers. This role will also assist the IT Manager in investigating the feasibility of infrastructure upgrades and developments, identity methods and solutions to increase productivity company wide and provide excellent and robust service in the resolution of issues for the company.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Administers end-user workstations and supports end-user activities utilizing TCP/IP on a primarily Microsoft Windows-based LAN.
  • Manages the help desk ticket system. Promptly prioritizes and assigns tasks to self or other team members using the ticket system.
  • Investigates user problems and identifies their source; determines possible solutions; and tests and implements solutions.
  • Organizes and manages IT assets, including:  organizing storage space; labeling equipment; installing hardware and software; and supporting office and cell moves
  • Investigates and makes recommendations for new software applications to support and improve business processes.
  • Tests upgrades and new releases of system software for compatibility with current applications, systems and network infrastructure.
  • Ensures all security protocols are applied to servers and system software.
  • Troubleshoots system software and develops and/or applies patches and fixes.
  • Troubleshoot problems reported by users and analyze and isolate issues
  • Monitor networks to ensure security
  • Evaluate and modify system’s performance
  • Maintain network facilities in individual machines, such as drivers and settings of personal computers as well as printers
  • Maintain integrity of the network, server deployment, and security
  • Ensure network connectivity throughout a company’s LAN/WAN infrastructure is on par with technical considerations
  • Design and deploy networks; Maintain network servers such as file servers, and VPN gateways
  • Perform network address assignment
  • Assign routing protocols and routing table configuration
  • Assign configuration of authentication and authorization of directory services
  • Administer servers, laptop and desktop computers, printers, routers, switches, firewalls, phones, company mobile phones, smartphones, software deployment, security updates and patches
  • Perform audits of backup system to determine viability of system recovery
  • Assist with development of Information Security Training and Planning

Job Requirements

  • High School Diploma Required.  Bachelor’s degree in IT or related field, preferred
  • Minimum 4 years of computer servicing/help desk experience preferred
  • Extensive knowledge of Microsoft Windows and Microsoft Office.
  • Experience with Office 365 Deployment and Support
  • Strong problem solving/analytical skills.
  • Provide white glove customer service skills.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.  Ability to present information to groups of people.
  • Ability to communicate technical information to nontechnical personnel.
  • Knowledge of CENTOS Preferred
  • Knowledge of VMware, Hyper-V, Windows Server, Active Directory, Group Policy, and MS Exchange, preferred.
  • NIST Support and Knowledge, preferred
  • Experience in an ITAR-regulated environment, preferred
  • Experience in an ITIL environment, preferred
  • Experience in a Microsoft System Center environment preferred
  • Ability to lift and carry equipment weighing up to 20 pounds
  • Ability to regularly bend, stoop, crawl, and reach with both arms.
  • Occasional travel required
