The Master Scheduler is the planning Subject Matter Expert and architect of planning for the organization. The Master Scheduler is responsible for the systems and processes used to plan ABT manufacturing to achieve desired business outcomes. The Mater Scheduler will coach and mentor planners to foster efficient planning strategy throughout the organization. The Master Scheduler will create visibility, identify opportunity for improvement, and leverage stakeholders to drive continuous improvement efforts. 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Collaborates with sales, operations, and supply chain to guide the executive team
  • Collaborates with site leaders to align on discipline, performance, and outcomes related to planning
  • Leads Executive Forecast reporting activity by supporting Director of Operations for bi-weekly reviews
  • Provides guidance while evaluating schedule related contractual requirements and impact to organization
  • Ensures planning best practices (VMI, SIOP, AI Forecasting) are evaluated and implemented as applicable
  • Leads the most complex planning projects and problem-solving efforts within ABT
  • Approval authority and primary owner of all QMS documents related to planning, and planning standard work
  • Leads Development and Maintenance of WI’s for all key planning activities (reviewing material, creating travelers, new job planning, NPI scheduling, Consignment/VMI Scheduling)
  • Monitors effectiveness, discipline, and adherence to QMS and Planning Standard Work
  • Ensures Effective Planning Related Training (ZZ.51, SW, Wi’s)
  • Ensures ERP produces necessary reports and information to effectively plan and leads the continuous improvement of ERP to streamline planning process
  • Establishes audit activity to validate ERP inputs and outputs are viable
  • Implements System Controls to ensure layered accountability as applicable (ex. PAR)
  • Approval authority for system inputs (MPs, QPs, MRR, LTs, Structures, etc)           
  • Maintains system supported capacity analysis
  • Provides planner mentorship, particularly in hi-potential development and performance gap situations
  • Systematically delivers training sessions for key subjects, within planning, and cross functionally
  • Oversees New Planner onboarding
  • Regularly holds one-on-ones with the lead planners that focus on results, system discipline, and improvement opportunities
  • The master scheduler ensures each site is equipped with the knowledge, reports, and habits needed to effectively see and respond to key metrics, which include but may not be limited to:
    • Ontime to Promise, Ontime to Production Schedule, Ontime to Stage, Leadtime improvement, Schedule Volatility, Revenue attainment
  • Audits VMI performance, forecast vs production, schedule volatility, and advises on necessary changes

Job Requirements

  • BA/BS in SCM, Operations, or related field strongly preferred
  • 5+ years in manufacturing operations or supply chain required
  • Cross functional leadership experience preferred
  • APICS CPIM, and/or Project Management Certification preferred
  • Demonstrated systems aptitude, with strong understanding of ERP, MRP, CRP, Inventory control
  • Demonstrated success leading cross-functional collaboration, develop visions, generates support, and achieve results
  • Self-motivated, detail oriented, and able to thrive in fast moving, complex work environment
